Kimberly is a Registered Social Worker through the British Columbia College of Social Workers (#15495) and holds a Master’s of Social Work. Kimberly is a certified Synergetic Play Therapist.
Kimberly specializes working with children who have histories of trauma, involvement with child protection and foster/out of home placements. Kimberly utilizes skills from a variety of modalities and theories including Synergetic Play Therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT, Solutions-Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Theory, Attachment Theory, Systems Theory, Child Development, Positive Behaviour Support and Safety Planning etc. Sessions include integration of regulation in the nervous system through in the moment teaching as well as education with parents to incorporate teachings in the home environment.
Kimberly has a passion for child/youth advocacy and believes in a team approach when it comes to supporting children/youth and their families. Kimberly strives to empower families and encourage them to parent in a way that aligns with their values/beliefs while integrating current understanding of neuroscience with child development.
Kimberly utilizes a trauma-informed, strengths-based lens and strives to create a non-judgemental, welcoming space.
